Terms of Engagement

Last updated:

This page provides general information about how Summit Accountancy Solutions works. It is not a substitute for your individual letter of engagement.

Important notice

These website terms provide general information about how we work. Each client will receive a separate letter of engagement setting out the specific services, responsibilities, fees and terms that apply to them. Where there is any difference, the individual letter of engagement will take precedence.

Our services

Summit Accountancy Solutions provides bookkeeping, Self Assessment tax return preparation, Making Tax Digital support, and related accountancy services to sole traders and small businesses in the UK.

The specific services we will provide, and the agreed fixed fee, will be set out in your individual letter of engagement before any work begins.

Your responsibilities

To allow us to carry out our work accurately and on time, we ask that you provide complete, accurate, and timely information and records as requested. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the information you supply to us.

You are responsible for reviewing and approving any returns or documents before submission to HMRC or any other authority. We will not submit anything on your behalf without your approval.

Fees and payment

Our fees are agreed in advance and confirmed in writing before work begins. We do not charge by the hour — your fixed fee covers the agreed scope of work.

Payment terms will be set out in your letter of engagement.

Confidentiality

We treat all client information as strictly confidential. We will not disclose your information to any third party without your consent, except where required by law or regulation (for example, HMRC or anti-money laundering obligations).

Professional standards

Summit Accountancy Solutions operates in accordance with the standards set by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). We are required to comply with AAT's Code of Professional Ethics, which includes obligations around integrity, objectivity, and professional competence.

Anti-money laundering

As an accountancy practice, we are subject to the UK Money Laundering Regulations. We are required to verify the identity of our clients before providing services and to report any suspicion of money laundering to the relevant authorities. We cannot advise you if we are required to make such a report.

Governing law

Our services are provided under the laws of England and Wales. Your individual letter of engagement will set out the full terms that govern our relationship.

Questions
